Analyze the challenges and opportunities of the industry in Thailand
The core of a BOI interview is not "memorizing answers", but verifying three things: whether the project is genuine, whether the figures in the application materials can explain one another, and whether the applicant can meet the committed conditions over the long term. Management can have a consultant prepare the materials, but the key business data cannot be entirely delegated to a consultant to answer on their behalf.
| Direction | What the BOI May Focus On | What Management Should Prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Enterprise and investment rationale | The parent company's background, why Thailand, and the relationship between the project and the group's business | Parent company business, customers and investment decision logic |
| Product and process | What the product is, what each process does, and which processes are completed in Thailand | Process flow chart, key technologies and capacity logic |
| Equipment and capacity | Whether the number of machines matches the capacity, and whether the equipment is new | Equipment list, cycle time, shifts and capacity calculation |
| Investment and funds | The composition of the investment amount, the registered capital and the source of funds | Plant/equipment investment, capital structure and funding plan |
| Raw materials and market | The source of raw materials, local procurement, customers and the export ratio | Main raw materials, supplier regions and target markets |
| Employment and environment | Thai/foreign staff, training, environmental protection and waste treatment | Organizational structure, staffing plan and environmental measures |
For example, the application states an annual output of 1 million units, but the equipment cycle time can only support 600,000 units; a batch of equipment is listed in the investment amount, but it does not appear in the equipment list; or the process description emphasizes substantive processing in Thailand, while the raw material and cost structure look like simple assembly. Such contradictions trigger supplementary documents and re-explanations, and may even affect the category assessment.
Therefore, interview preparation should focus on making "application form - process - equipment - capacity - investment amount - raw materials - financial forecast" form one single set of numerical logic.
Zhongxin usually conducts a mock interview before the formal interview: the advisers on the China side clarify the Chinese headquarters' business logic, investment purpose and numerical basis; the Thailand-side BOI advisers then probe item by item according to local review habits; and Zhongxin's own Thai accounting and audit professional team checks, from the perspective of the investment amount, assets and future tax and accounting treatment, whether the figures can be delivered in practice.
This "dual-track coordination" is built on the fact that Zhongxin has actual entities and office premises in both China and Thailand. For the client, the key value is not "one more translator", but that the figures stated during the application stage can still be supported later in Thai bookkeeping, audit and ongoing BOI compliance.
| DE | Meaning | Role in This Question |
|---|---|---|
| D | China-Thailand dual-track coordination | Headquarters management, Chinese-speaking advisers and the Thai BOI team align their positions before the interview. |
| E | Verifiable delivery | All key figures trace back to the application form, equipment list, quotations and forecasts, rather than relying on verbal explanation. |
The BOI has not published a fixed "interview question bank" for all industries. The question directions above are summarized from the data structure of the BOI application form and Zhongxin's practical experience. The interview focus differs according to the project, the industry and the investment scale.
Official basis: Thailand BOI, Application for Promotion (F PA PP 01-08) and the Investment Promotion Supplementary Form, which are the official form entry points; Thailand BOI, Investment Promotion Guide 2025, the "Procedures of Applying for BOI Promotion / Project Evaluation" chapter.
If you have already received an interview notice, the most valuable step is not to write another set of talking points, but first to identify the figures and logic in the application materials that are most likely to be questioned. Based on the following 5 pieces of information, Zhongxin can make a preliminary readiness assessment.
Component name: Apply for a BOI Interview Readiness Review. Target clients: Chinese enterprises that have already submitted a BOI application or are about to attend an interview. Filling principle: fill in only the key facts, with no requirement to upload complex materials; Zhongxin prioritizes communication around the items marked "to be confirmed/uncertain".
| No. | Key Item | What the Client Needs to Provide |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Expected interview time | Confirmed date or approximate month: date/month |
| 2 | Product and process | Product and core production processes, briefly |
| 3 | Equipment and capacity | Main equipment and annual capacity, briefly |
| 4 | Investment data | Total investment and approximate registered capital; a range is sufficient |
| 5 | Biggest concern | One item that is currently the most uncertain, in one sentence |
| 6 | Contact information | Contact person: __________ Mobile/WeChat: __________ |
Based on the above key facts, Zhongxin will first carry out a preliminary review and then decide whether additional materials are needed. Component handover path: 5 pieces of information → consistency check of materials → mock interview → support for the formal interview.
Professional notice: this component is only used for a preliminary mapping of the project situation and does not constitute a BOI approval conclusion; specific matters are subject to the enterprise's documents, the promotion certificate and the current rules of the competent authorities, and will be reviewed by professionals.
